CERTIFICATE FOR THE EXPORTATION OF CHINESE TEA
Partially-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 4to., New York, June 22, 1825, certifying the exportation of sixty chests of Hyson tea to Hamburg. The tea was originally imported from Canton and landed in Philadelphia by the ship Superior, and from there taken to New York aboard the sloop Philip Walter. The document records the marks present on the chests of tea, its net price, and the duties payable on its export. The document is signed at the conclusion, likely by a customs inspector, and is docketed on the verso by trader and ship owner DAVID W.C. OLYPHANT (1789-1851). Folds, else very good to fine.
