BOB PAUL
Sheriff of Calaveras Co., Ca. in the 1850's, then relocated to Arizona in 1878 where he worked for Wells Fargo as an agent and shotgun messenger. Later elected sheriff of Pima Co. and supported by Wyatt Earp versus Earp's boss, Charlie Shibell. In the same election San Simon, a tiny railroad stop, outlaws brought in Ike Clanton and some of his cronies to run the election. John Ringo was the election judge, and Curly Bill Brocius took over the ballot box. They gathered all of the men, women, children, and the Chinese, and forced them to vote for Shibell. Feeling that was not adequate, Brocius named all the dogs, burros, and poultry in town, then cast their vote as well. Rare partly-printed D.S. "R. H. Paul" as Under Sheriff, 1p. legal folio, Calaveras Co., Ca., Dec. 24, 1858, filled-out and signed by Paul, official notice that a quartz mill had been sold at public auction for payment of past-due taxes. Light toning and a few short fold splits, else very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
