BENJAMIN J. HILL
(1825 - 1880) Confederate brigadier general who served gallantly at Shiloh, Chickamauga and Franklin. Towards the end of the war he served with the infamous Forrest. Unusual manuscript D.S. 1p. oblong 8vo., [n.p.] Dec. 15, 1858 being a bill of sale for a slave that reads in part: "...in consideration of Eleven hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged I have this day sold to B J Hill a Negro boy named Henry...the said boy I have a good title to...". Marginal chips, weak vertical fold repaired on verso, else very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
