1797. HENRY WARD BEECHER (1813 -1887) American clergyman who was an ardent supporter of abolition and woman suffrage. He was brought down by an adultery scandal that shocked the nation. Lot of five items, includes a brief A.L.S 1p. 8vo., Brooklyn, Apr. 14, 1854 sending his autograph, a mounted signature, and two carte de visite photographs, one with Anthony backstamp (slightly mottled, corners clipped). Sold with a pamphlet issued by the Foreign Mission Society of Litchfield Co., Ct., 1825. $75-100
