Good lot of four documents related to the World War I service of Christoph Schuberth of the Bavarian "Ersatz-Gebirgs-Maschinen-Gewehr Kompanie 1." ("Replacement Mountain Machine Gun Company 1."), includes: Schuberth's "militarpass" identification book, 20pp. 12mo., indicating his initial enlistment in a mountain infantry regiment from June 26, 1916 to March 21, 1917, from which he then serves with an administrative unit for one month before joining the aforementioned machine gun unit. The covers appear to be held on by archival adhesive labels, with file holes and some wear, else very good. WITH: partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Immenstadt, Sep. 1, 1916, a temporary award certificate granting Schuberth the Iron Cross, Second Class. Shows heavy folds with some splits thereto repaired on the verso with an adhesive label, with file holes to the top edge and some foxing, generally very good. WITH: postwar partly-printed document (unsigned), 1p. oblong 8vo., Innsbruck, Oct. 17, 1935, an award certificate granting Schuberth the "Tiroler Landesdenkmunze 1914-1918" ("Tirol Provincial Commemorative Medal 1914-1918", bearing the stamped signature of a captain at the conclusion. Shows folds and file holes at the left edge, else very good. WITH: partly-printed document (unsigned), 1p. 8vo., Vienna, Sep. 24, 1935, an award certificate granting Schuberth the Austrian War Commemorative Medal with Swords, bearing the stamped signature of a government official at the conclusion. Shows folds with file holes to the left edge, else very good. Four pieces.
