[ Autographs ] Union Soldier's Letter Union soldier's letter, 4pp. 8vo., [Near Richmond], June 13, 1862 Frank writes his father: '...We are quietly situated on the plantation of the noted Dr. Gaines... now using [outbuildings] for hospitals... he is a true 'secesh' and got caught signaling across the river once for the rebels... under arrest and at the Fortress... the darkies say we will have lots of peaches in two weeks... McClellan is on the road himself and on the left of the army where the work is being done... lst of July will find [Richmond]in U.S. possession..." Not quite.
