[ Autographs ] UNDERGROUND RAILROAD - WILLIAM STILL (b. 1821) Black American abolitionist and member of the Philadelphia Anti-Slavery Society, Chairman of the Philadelphia branch of the Underground railway, and sheltered John Browns' wife, daughter and sons while Brown awaited execution. Rare A.L.S., 2pp. 8vo., "Anti-Slavery Office" Philadelphia, Nov. 15, 1854, to Dr. E. Harvey, asking if Harvey shallbe available to deliver a lecture for the society which apparently hadnot been scheduled prior to the announcement.
