[ Autographs ] The Civil War Correspondence Of Abram Row- Ell A large, fine content collection of 36 wartime letters of Union PrivateAbram Rowell, Co. C. 16th Vt. during the years 1862-63 some are on patriotic stationery, most are four pages or longer and all are in ink. They read in small part: "... Mosby Band made a dash on the train... burning the whole train of cars and damaging the engine some The 15th Reg. was guarding the train. There were some 40 guards and as soon as the first gun was fired at them they was scared out off their senses... the cavalry was there to relieve them but they relieved themselves, running in every direction ... there was anotherskirmish amongst our cavalry this morning for we could hear the reports of their guns real plain... we are preparing for the rebs nowevery day. We are throwing up rifle pits and breastworks... stationedon Bull Run Creek right on the sight of the first Bull Run fight... went within two miles of the Rappanahock in sight of the rebel pickets. There we met Stoneman's Cavalry... 15 thousand strong. They said we had better not venture any further..." An excellent correspondence, in fine condition.
