Description:

[ Autographs ] Peter W. Yates 1747-1826 American revolutionary, a member of the Committee of Correspondence and a New York delegate to the Continental Congress. Partly-printed D.S. 1p. folio, Albany, Aug.13, 1808, an indenture concerning the sale of a parcel of land in Albany, signed by Yates at the conclusion. On the verso is a lengthy endorsement signed by James Kent 1763-1847 , an acquaintance of John Jay and Alexander Hamilton whose legal decisions helped create the American system of equity jurisdiction. Light soiling and folds, otherwise very good. E100-150 America's "sick and... entirely naked" prisoners!
