[ Autographs ] Oliver Pollock 1737-1823 American merchant and patriot who singly supported George Rogers Clark's Illinois campaign of 1778 with his own wealth. Compared to Robert Morris as a financialgiant, he too eventually found himself in debtors prison. Rare D.S. 575in x 2in, a partly-printed check issued by the Bank of the United States, [n.p.], April 10, 1795 made out by Pollock to J. Smith for E40 and signed at bottom. One spindle hole well away from signature.
