Adams" as President, 1p.8vo., Washington, July 5, 1828 to Attorney General William Wirt. Obviously making reference to the Yazoo Claims for land improperly seized by the federal government, Adams writes in part: "...The papersherewith enclosed are referred to the Attorney General of the United States for his opinions and advise. His attention being particularly desired to the reasoning of the Legislature of Georgia and of the delegation in Congress from that State in behalf of indemnity for property destroyed for the increase of living property, and for interest...". Very slightly faded, otherwise very good. With a secretary's reference noted well below.
