[ Autographs ] JOHN QUINCY ADAMS A.L.S. "John Quincy Adams" 1p. 4to.,Quincy, May 9, 1806, to the Accountant of the Navy, Thomas Turner concerning: "...the arrears of pay &c. due to the late Lieutenant Joseph Beale, at the time when he last Sailed in the Brig Pickering. -But his father who is the Administrator upon his Estate, says, that the Pickering after sailing from Boston on the 9th of June, and cruising some time returned to Philadelphia - and last sailed from that port between the 20th and 25th of August...On the principles recognized in your Statement, the arrears due...must therefore consistof his pay and rations until at least the 20th of August..." Fine condition.
