Fine T.L.S. 1p. 8vo. on F.B.I. letterhead, Washington, May 17, 1963 to astronaut L. Gordon Cooper, a member of the original Mercury team. Hoover writes: "...It is a pleasure to join millions of Americans in extending heartiest congratulations on your successful orbital flight. The fortitude you displayed and your ability to act decisively under tremendous pressure are certainly outstanding examples. All of us in the FBI admire your courage..." Fine.
