[ Autographs ] HENRY DEARBORN (1751 - 1829) American military officerand Secretary of War, fought at Bunker Hill, in Arnold's Quebec expedition, at Wyoming Valley, and in the War of 1812 took Fort Georgeand York with heavy losses. His copy of the collected Acts of Congressentitled Third Congress of the United States at the First Session, begun and held at the City of Philadelphia...., 146 pp., 8vo., [n.p., 1794] no boards, with two stitch string binding, signed "H. Dearborn" on the title page at the top. Acts printed include an act authorizing the eleventh amendment to be submitted to the states for ratification,an act prohibiting the slave trade with other nations, an act establishing the U.S. Navy, an act altering the U.S. flag to reflect the admission of Vermont and Tennessee into the Union, an act establishing the U.S. Post office, as well as the budget for 1794. Other private acts include authorizations for payment of revolutionarywar veterans Arthur St. Clair and Lafayette. Edges ragged, very lightfoxing, otherwise good condition.
