[ Autographs ] (Gettysburg Campaign) Manuscript document 1p. 4to., Headquarters 2nd Army Corps, June 15,1863 A manuscript General Order in which Ewell sends an order to his troops concerning conduct in the Gettysburg campaign. In part: '...The Lt. Gen. Comdv. desires in every manner to ameliorate the condition of the men in the ranks... he is fully sensible of the oppression and outrages of the enemy on our people. he appeals to the intelligence and patriotism which work this army, to assist him in repressing... plunder on the part of those who may think such only just retaliation. But this plundering must be repressed or... we will become, like our enemies, a band of robbers, without spirit to win victories... " Very good.
