[ Autographs ] George Rogers Clark 1752-1818 American Revolutionary soldier and frontier explorer, led the defense of Kentucky against Indian raids, led militia in the defense of Illinois and Kentucky. Exceptional D.S. 2pp. folio on parchment, "Indiana Territory", Aug. 31, 1789, an indenture signed by both George Rogers Clark and his brother, William Clark 1770-1838 , a military officer who would laterbe appointed by Jefferson to lead an expedition to explore the Louisiana territory. The indenture concerns the granting of a two hundred acre parcel of land to William Croghan from an original 149, 000 acre parcel granted to Illinois Regiment veterans. Boldly signed at the conclusion by George Rogers Clark and his nineteen- year-old brother William Clark, each beside their respective wax seal. A rare association of these two famous brothers. Folds and only very light soiling, otherwise fine.
