Rare manuscript D.S 'Ph. Carteret" as Governor 1p. folio[New Jersey], May 12, 1668. Carteret signs his approval to the lease of a large tract of land in Bergen to Gerret Gerretsen, in return forthe token sum of '...one halfe penny of Lawfull English monny for Every one of the said Acres therein Contayned..' Two tiny holes at fold junctions affect only three words of text, very light offsettingfrom seal, otherwise in remarkably good condition for a document of its age.
