[ Autographs ] George E. Pickett 1825-1875 Confederate major general who formed the brigades for the ill-fated charge on the final day at Gettysburg. Pickett never forgave Lee for the destruction of his command, and died a bitter man. Rare and most desirable war-date autograph endorsement, signed twice, about 1.5in x 1.5in, removed from a larger document. In full: "Hd. Qrs. Pickett's Div. Feby. 6, 1865 dly. forwarded approved. G. E. Pickett Maj. Genl Com'g" Another general's signature is above, but is closely-cut at right and partially obscured by white tape. some faults: text and signature arevery light but completely legible, first line of endorsement was tornbut repaired with archival tape on verso, a second small tear close to but not touching Pickett's signature.
