[ Autographs ] GEORGE E. PICKETT (1825 - 1875) Confederate major general who formed the brigades for the ill-fated charge on the finalday at Gettysburg. Pickett never forgave Lee for the destruction of his command, and died a bitter man. Rare and most desirable war-date signed endorsement removed from a document, in full: "Hd. Qrs. Pickett's Divis. Jany. 14, 1863 Apprvd & respectfully forward[ed] G. E Pickett Maj. Gen'l Comdg". Penned just under six months before Gettysburg. Marginal soiling and typical wear, overall good to very good.
