[ Autographs ] DABNEY H. MAURY (1822 - 1900) Confederate major general who fought at Pea Ridge and later served with the Army of theWest at Iuka and Corinth. A rare carte-de-visite photograph of Maury, a chest-up image of him in uniform as a major general, likely war-date published by the Fitzgibbon's Art Gallery in St. Louis, Mo. Signed onthe verso at the bottom of the image: "Dabney C. Maury, Va. Maj. Gen. C. Army". Immediately after the war, Maury attempted to teach in Richmond, Va., and it is possible that the image was signed at that time, though the ink appears to be period and therefore the image could have been signed during the war. Very good.
