[ Autograph ] Willlam IV 1765-1837 King of England who resisted a halt to the slave trade, and was the last king to attempt to force a Prime Minister on Parliament. A.L.S. 'William' on mourning stationery,2pp. 4to., Hanover, Jan. 19, 1819 to a Lord, a chatty letter in whichWilliam discusses family relations and thanks the man for his effortsconcerning a personal matter. At the conclusion of the letter, William puts an "X" through the last paragraph, perhaps having changed his mind about a point made and being too occupied to rewrite the letter. some fold tears and marginal chipping, two folds reinforced with clear tape.
