[ Autograph ] Wilhelm C. Roentgen 1845-1932 German scientist, the discoverer of x-rays for which he was awarded the first Nobel Prize for physics. Roentgen also studied specific heats of gases, elasticity, capillary action, and piezoelectricity. Rare A.L.S. with initial "R", 1p. 4.5in x 3in, n.p.,n.d., likely 192 11in pencil on the verso of a calendar page. In German he writes: "Dear Madam, Tomorrow Thursday, I will go to Wurzburg. Can I talk to you there? If you have business at the University, I will be there from 11:00 to 12:30 today. R.' Rough left margin with light toning, otherwise very good.
