[ Autograph ] (Billie Holiday) A huge, varied and detailed collectionof correspondence, contracts, playbills, scripts, music and photographs, several hundred items, all concerning Holiday and a proposed film to be made of her turbulent and troubled life. The archive also contains various scripts and director's notes for the project, with working titles "The Lady Sings the Blues", "The Trial of Billie Holiday", and "The Whole Town's Talking". Also included arecontracts for the project made between noted produces Lester Cowan, Holiday's biographer William Duftie, and song and scriptwriter Anne Ronnel. Although none of the items are signed by Holiday, this remains a fine trove of research material concerning one of America'sgreatest singers. Overall very good condition.
