APOLLO XII FLOWN PATCH An excessively rare and fine Apollo XII relic, an embroidered Apollo XII patch measuring 4" in diameter, carried to the moon on the historic mission on Nov. 14, 1969 and bearing the mission's emblem of a clipper ship sailing the cosmos. With an A.L.S. by crewmember ALAN BEAN, the lunar module pilot, on his official letterhead, 1p. 4to., May 15, 1987, to noted space collector Roy M. Gutzke, in part: "...Thanks for your enthusiastic letter. Space exploration is indeed human activity at its best. I am enclosing our crew patch from the Apollo XII mission. We took this patch to the moon with us and I want you to have it for your collection...". The patch and letter are handsomely set in Plexiglas with biographical information, and sealed at left and right margins with silk string and wax seals. In fine condition.
