Description:

ANTI-NAZI FRENCH AND AMERICAN BOOKS (2)
Pair of books both with a strong anti-Nazi message, both published in the World War II-era. Included is: 'What I Learned in Nazi Germany' by Maj. Frank Pease (New York: American Defender Press), [1934]. Privately printed, 64pp. 8vo. in paper boards. A stern warning about Hitler, the Nazi Party, and their plans for European and world domination, as well as the Soviets, from an American Army officer in Germany during Hitler's rise to power. An extremely rare publication! WITH: 'Les Hommes Verts' ('The Green Men') by Roland Lennad (Paris: Editions Raymond Schall), 1945. 78pp. 8vo. in illustrated cardboard covers. An illustrated view of Germany and the Germans during the war years, a deeply ironic view of the German people, examining their culture and lifestyle in order to understand them better. In the opening they are the ‘good people who kill, torture and massacre'. Roger Schall (1904–1995) photographed Germans before the war when he was in Germany on assignments including the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Damage to the spine, binding loose. Two pieces.
