Description:

AMERICAN MILITARY INTELLIGENCE REPORTS
A large grouping of war-date and post-war material from U.S. Military Intelligence T/Sgt. Ward P. Lanier who served from August, 1944 until well after war's end, largely with the 507th Counter-Intelligence Corps, 7th Armored Division. Most of the reports are marked 'SECRET', and there are in total approx. 60pp. of material present. A portion of the reports are six detailed summaries of interviews of suspected Nazis, spies, informers, and collaborators conducted by various interrogators, several concerning Hitler Youth leaders and the movements of Artur Axmann. Also present is a 1949 26pp. list of hundreds of 'Former Nazis holding Public Appointments in SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN', whom it is urged should be removed from office; an Aug. 16, 1944 report on the liberation of Chateauneuf-en-Thymerais, France; and a 2pp. interview of a suspected Dutch spy. There is also a significant grouping of material from Lanier's personal files, including a caricature of an agent in 'C.I.C. UNDERCOVER GARB', a confiscated late war wehrpass; a 3 x 5 in. photo of the destroyed bridge at Remagen; Paris guide books and brochures; an S.A. sports shirt emblem; two U.S. Army shoulder patches; and about two dozen newspaper clippings, many concerning intelligence activities and the 7th Armored. Overall very good.
