504TH P.I.R. REGIMENTAL HISTORY
Rare World War II war service journal of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, commanded by Major General Matthew Ridgway. The regiment served alongside the 325th and 326th Glider Infantry Regiments, together with supporting units. The 9.75 x 13 in. journal, titled 'The Devils in Baggy Pants', bears blue embossed covers with gold trim. It contains approx. 400pp. (back and front), heavily illustrated, and was published in Paris very shortly after the German surrender. The book sets forth the exploits of the 504th in their 371 combat days including action in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Belgium, France and Germany, including hard-fought efforts in the relief of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. Also present is a presentation card dedicated to those KIA in the regiment, one of whom's family members were presented with this book. The card is hand-signed by Col. REUBEN H. TUCKER (1911-1970), commander of the regiment.
