ALFRED STEVENS
(1823 - 1906) Belgian painter who exhibited at the Paris International Exhibition of 1878 and 1889. A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo., [Paris], May 28, 1899, in French to his friend and celebrated painter Alfred Roll. In part: "...I wish to recommend to you a young friend of mine whom I love very much. He works in La Maison Bousson...his name is Blouet. He is sending two pastels to our salon; one large and one small, 1150/portrait of a woman on a small blue background, canvas No. 30. 1151/Study, head with lamp, Canvas of 6. Please do me great favor of indulging him...I am writing to you from bed to which I have been confined for several months. As last I am beginning to feel better...". Alfred Roll (1846-1919) was esteemed among his contemporaries and praised for the breadth and adaptability of his style. Very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
