ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL (1847 - 1922) American inventor of the telephone, formed the Bell Telephone Company, and established the Volta Laboratory which produced numerous related inventions and improvements on existing technology. Scarce signed booklet, a copy of his controversial treatise "Marriage - An Address to the Deaf, with an Appendix upon Consanguineous Marriages", 18pp. 8vo., in imprinted wrappers, published in 1898 by Sanders Printing Office in Washington, D.C.. This address was delivered to the Members of the Literary Society of Kendall Green, on Mar. 6, 1891, in which he presented his theories based on the "laws of heredity", that have led him to conclude that changes in marriage practices among young deaf persons can decrease their handing down the condition to offspring.
