ALBERT EINSTEIN
(1879-1955) American physicist whose Theory of Relativity and studies of mass and energy relationships revolutionized the field of physics. Humorous A.L.S. to his son Eduard, penned on the verso of a postcard and signed "Dein Vater", 1p. 12mo., Palm Springs, [Jan. 27, 1931], in German. He jokes about his brain, writing, in full: "Dear Tetel! Thank you for the Splitter [?]. My brain is right now being distilled in the California desert. It's very pleasant. Mama is getting cacti, but I don't have the written-down name with me here. Heartfelt greetings to you both. Your Father". Eduard (1879-1965), was Einstein's second son. Plagued by schizophrenia, he was cared throughout his life by his mother, Einstein's first wife Mileva. Boldly penned, with "Einstein" written in address line. Additionally, a holographic message in blue ink [German, untranslated] appears on the postcard's front, with a signature from Elsa, Einstein's second wife. Near fine.
