Description:

Lot of twelve silver teaspoons, each 4.5 in. long, featuring Hitler's early pattern ‘A H' monogram and a ‘900' purity stamp on the reverse. Light tarnish is displayed on each piece. Presented in a blue case, 10 x 5 in., which bears the original tag for the maker M.T. Wetzlar. This piece comes directly from the Berghof. Accompanied by a letter of provenance, reading in part: ‘...In the fall of 1943, a school teacher from Munich, Franziska Schmidler...was sent to the area of Berchtesgaden...In the spring of 1945...she and some friends went into what was left of Hitler's home and took food, wine, pieces of silver, fur coat, clothing, jewelry, and other things...The items were divided, and the girls went their own ways. She hid her things in the attic of the house where she lived. The items she retrieved were a tea service, plates, and serving pieces that personally belonged to Adolf Hitler, a 75-piece set of silver in a box, a covered pitcher, a salad set and serving pieces...In Munich she meet[sic] my brother-in-law Mike Shostak who was in the 45th Infantry Div., 120 Medical Bn., 7th Army...In the fall, Franziska got sick with pneumonia and died. Mike was given her personal effects since she had no family...Due to Mike's association with the U.N.R.R.A. he was able to ship all these items home safely. These items came into my possession in the early 1960s while I lived in New York after my brother-in-law died...' Very good to fine.

Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
