1122. AVRAHAM ADAN (b. 1926) Israeli general, led the Negev Brigade during Israel's war of independence, and during the Six Days War in 1967 was deputy commander of the armored division fighting again in the Sinai. Fine S.P. 9 1/2" x 12" b/w, a reproduction of an evocative photo showing Adan as he raised the Israeli flag with his men in Eilat, Mar. 10, 1949. The soldiers did not have a flag, so they improvised one with a white sheet and blue ink. Printed directly from the original negative by the Governmental Photography Agency in Jerusalem in the mid-1980s. Boldly signed at top left in Hebrew. Fine condition. $100 - 150
