1121. LOUIS MOUNTBATTEN (1900 - 1979) British naval commander and statesman, supreme allied commander in Southeast Asia responsible for the recapture of Burma. Fine group of Mountbatten material, includes a T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Broadlands, 1965 mentioning that he would be leaving the Ministry of Defense and expressing his hope that his plan of its reorganization would be accepted; S.P., 8" x 10" b/w in uniform. Inscription and signature faded a bit, and two signed programs for a 1965 college convocation. With six additional T.LS.'s from his daughter Patricia who inherited the title by special act (it normally only passed down to male heirs) who signs "Mountbatten of Burma".
