A.L.S. 1p. 8vo., House of Representatives, Harrisburg, Pa., Feb. 25, 1861, to president-elect Abraham Lincoln just days before his inauguration. In part: "…Mr. Lloyd Jones of 'Norristown Gazette' is an applicant for the office of Marshall of Eastern District. I most cordially commend him…As an ardent Republican in a Locopoco [?] stronghold he deserves the aid of your administration. His appointment would gratify the…strength of the party…". Light mounting strip to verso left edge, otherwise very good condition.
