Description:

A patriotic float pull toy, 24 in. long, 11. in. across and standing 17.5 in. tall, consisting of a wooden base with a metal covering wrapped around the side with four wheels attached to allow for movement, and a wooden hitch mount at the front. The base is covered by a red and white striped cloth that has been secured to it. On the white base stands a large bald eagle, carved of a single piece of wood, in between two arches. It has been constructed using old picture frames, and 'Gettysburg Address' is painted on the sides. Behind this emblem is an Abraham Lincoln figurine, dressed in a black suit, white shirt, and with Lincoln's distinctive stove top hat, standing at a podium and delivering his famous speech. Surrounding Lincoln and the podium in a semi-circle is a decorative wooden barrier, with a wood badge fastened to the front painted with an American Flag. Both sides of the barrier bear small versions of 'Old Glory'. This piece is undated but ca. 1918, and bears several repairs, with some wood chipped and some soiling. Still very good and a fine piece of American political art.
