94TH INFANTRY DIV. CHIEF OF STAFF MAJOR GEN. EARL C. BERGQUIST TUNIC
EARL C. BERGQUIST American general, served as Chief of Staff of the 94th Infantry Division in Europe during World War II. A well-preserved post-war uniform owned and worn by Bergquist. The tan tunic is closed at the front with four brass U.S. army insignia branded buttons. Above the inside right pocket, a black and gold sewn-in patch displays the general's initials 'ECB', and the hallmark of Haas Tailoring Co. beneath the pocket. On the inside of the pocket is an identification label naming the company Haas Bergquist has signed the maker's patch in an interior pocket in blue ink. The issuance date of May 14, 1958 is seen below his name, also in blue ink, with size 14 notated next to it. The outside of the tunic contains four flap-pockets, two at the chest and two at the waist, each with a brass insignia branded button. Both upper lapels hold identical brass 'U.S.' pins. Both epaulettes bear two silver general's stars, along with a single brass U.S. army insignia branded button. A circular patch for the 94th Infantry Division is displayed on the right shoulder, a black nine on a silver background and a silver four on a black background which is separated by a diagonal line with an olive-colored border. On the left shoulder is a U.S. First army patch, a black 'A' with a half red and half white background. The stitching has come loose in a few places on the interior of the tunic, otherwise it is in fine condition.
