612. 1776 MILITIA ELECTION A fine content A.L.S. by Thomas Parsons, 1p. 4to., Leavitt Town [N.H.], July 29, 1776. Soon after the announcement of the Declaration of Independence, Parsons writes Col. Joseph Badger (1722-1803), the mustering officer for central New Hampshire, concerning the results of the town's election of militia officers: "...agreeable to your Request the Inhabitants of Leavitt town assembled, and made Choice of Mr. Car Leavitt for their Capt. Mr James Titcob for their Leut. & Mr. Benja. Dearborn for their Ensn... " With address on verso. Light creases, a few toned spots, otherwise very good. $300-400
