'The Gentleman and Lady's Weekly Magazine', published April 15, 1774, 31pp. 8vo., notably detailing the conflict between Creek Indians and American colonists in Charlestown, SC. An article from February 4th indicates that colonists, after receiving threats from the tribe, have '...set about building a fort...resolved to defend themselves...' The next day's article indicates that the Creek have warned colonists that they will attack them once the Savannah River is fordable, and an article from the following day describes the gruesome murder of an American lieutenant, adding: '...his body was found tied to a tree, a gun-barrel...red-hot was thrust into, and left sticking out of his body; his scalp and ears taken off, a painted hatchet left sticking in his skull, twelve arrows in his breast, and a painted war-club left upon his body.' Much more content. Some spots of foxing, else very good.
