JEFFREY EPSTEIN (1953-2019) American financier and sex offender. Born and raised in New York City, Epstein began his professional life as a teacher at the Dalton School despite lacking a college degree. After his dismissal from the school in 1976, he entered the banking and finance sector, working at Bear Stearns in various roles before starting his own firm. Epstein cultivated an elite social circle and procured many women and children whom he and some of his associates sexually abused. In 2005, police in Palm Beach, Florida began investigating Epstein after a parent reported that he had sexually abused her 14-year-old daughter. Federal officials identified 36 girls, some as young as 14 years old, whom Epstein had allegedly sexually abused. Epstein pleaded guilty and was convicted in 2008 of procuring a child for prostitution and of soliciting a prostitute. He was convicted of only these two crimes as part of a controversial plea deal, and served almost 13 months in custody but with extensive work release. Epstein was arrested again on July 6, 2019, on federal charges for the sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York. He died in his jail cell on August 10, 2019, the cause attributed to hanging. Epstein's lawyers have disputed the ruling, and there has been significant public skepticism about the true cause of his death. Since Epstein's death precluded the possibility of pursuing criminal charges against him, a judge dismissed all criminal charges on August 29, 2019. Epstein had a decades-long association with the British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, leading to her 2021 conviction on U.S. federal charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy for helping him procure girls, including a 14-year-old, for child sexual abuse and prostitution. Many very prominent figures have been associated with Epstein, though none have been implicated in any of his crimes. These include former president Donald Trump, attorney Alan Dershowitz, Frederic Fekkai, Christy Hefner, Edward Kennedy, and many dozens of other giants in the fields of finance, manufacturing, real estate, film, television, law, fashion design, etc. The 64pp. book measures 4.5 x 5.25 in. and is Gestetner-bound in black plastic. The entries are printed reproductions, likely reduced in size to accommodate this rather small binding. There are 386 printed entries with two additional entries penned in a childlike hand on the last page, very similar to Epstein's hand but the sample is too small for us to warrant this as fact. They vary in length from only a few lines to over 10-15 lines or more each, and each of these entries may have several more names included within. Additionally, 94 names bear black, hand-applied checkmarks, and five have been highlighted in yellow. All five names, including that of Donald Trump, are well-recognized financial and industrial figures. The significance of the checked and highlighted names is unknown. The details included in the vast majority of the entries are most extensive: Epstein not only includes the name, address and telephone number of his contact, but in most cases also adds other residential addresses and numbers, contact information for family members, secretaries, immediate employees, and associates of the individual, cell phone and pager numbers, and in at least one instance, a contact's girl friend's number. There is also a good deal of information hinting at Epstein's sordid past, including the very first entry, contact information for the front desk and five apartment numbers (only) and corresponding telephone numbers at 301 East 66th Street, New York. This address was: '...home for years to young models, girlfriends, pilots, and lawyers associated with multimillionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein...MC2, the modeling agency Epstein invested in, used the apartments to house overseas models. MC2's founder, Jean-Luc Brunel, had an apartment there...' See Business Insider Aug. 5, 2019. The book also contains entries for former Ford Models, Inc. CEO Katie Ford, as well as an entry for 'Masseuse/Masseur' which lists 24 women's names and numbers, some with pager numbers as well, with one bearing the descriptive: 'ugly back up,' and eight women listed under 'Exercise people'.

The history of this criminal relic is fascinating! In the mid-1990s a musician living in Manhattan discovered the book lying on a Fifth Avenue sidewalk in Midtown. She eventually put it in storage and it was not until 2020 while cleaning out her storage unit that she realized it belonged to the infamous Jeffrey Epstein. She reached out to several media outlets who failed to react. Assuming that the book was a copy, she listed it on eBay where it was purchased by a graduate student in the Northeast who has possessed it ever since.

A later ca. 2004 Epstein 'black book' was discovered by the FBI and used in legal proceedings, but this copy, which came to light after Epstein's death, was not considered of evidentiary importance at the time of its discovery. According to Business Insider, of the 1,731 names contained in the two volumes together, 221 appear in our earlier book but do not appear in the ca. 2004 book.

During its six-month investigation, Business Insider journalists had respected forensic document examiners Applied Forensics examine the book to determine its authenticity. After researching the Gestetner Velo-Bind binding and the data within, the examiners determined: '...There are indications or evidence to suggest that the Q-1 address book predated the online version of the address book and was in existence circa late 1990’s....' A copy of that report is available to potential bidders. Additionally, Business Insider journalists called dozens of the telephone numbers within the book. They reported: '...[The book] contains comprehensive entries for all of Epstein's estates, consistent with properties he owned in the mid-1990s, with details down to alarm codes and internet modem lines. His Paris apartment, which he purchased in the early 2000s, isn't there. Neither is his private island, Little Saint James, which he acquired in 1998 — although the book does contain the contact information for the wife of the man from whom Epstein purchased the island. The book also contains detailed entries for Epstein's relatives, whose addresses matched residences we found in public-records searches. We also divided up calls to prominent people listed in the book, who had never previously been connected with Epstein before. More than a dozen told us on the record that they had met Epstein in the 1990s...' See https://www.businessinsider.com/reporter-interview-jeffrey-epstein-second-little-black-book-2021-7.
