Description:

ZACHARY TAYLOR
Rare and early D.S., 1p, 8vo., Fort Howard [Green Bay], Nov. 6, 1817. Taylor, newly returned to his Army post, was given command of the just-opened Fort Howard, meant to serve as an important stopping point in the United States' fur trade. Here he approves a requisition for "Four Small Drum Heads and two Drum Cords for the use of the musicians in the garrison of Fort Howard. Boldly signed, "Z. Taylor, majr". Somewhat toned with soiling and foxing throughout, slightly affecting signature.
