Description:

(1914-1984) Soviet Premier who ruled for a brief 15 months following the death of Leonid Brezhnev in 1982. During his tenure as head of the KGB, he ruthlessly suppressed the "Prague Spring" of 1968. Typed D.S., 1p. 4to., Moscow, March 14, 1978, not fully translated but apparently related to the proposed expansion of a Soviet trade mission in the United Kingdom. Andropov signs boldly at the conclusion in blue ink, with a second official countersigning. Shows some paper loss and file holes to the left edge, not affecting any text, with folds, else very good. WITH: NIKOLAI PATOLICHEV (1908-1989) Minister of Foreign Trade of the USSR from 1958 to 1985. Prior to that, he was the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Byelorussia from 1950 to 1956. Typed D.S., 1p. 12mo., [n.p.], March 4, 1978, untranslated but believed to be a document receipt, signed by Patolichev at the conclusion in blue ink. Shows file holes at the left edge, with a small area of paper loss at the left edge, else very good.
