WYSTAN HUGH AUDEN(1907-1973) American poet, playwright and literary critic regarded by many as the most influential poet of the century, author of Age of Anxiety for which he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1948. A.L.S. "Wystan Auden" on the verso of a small postcard, Williamsburg, Mass., [July 26, 1940], to Marian Green in Riverdale, New York, in part: "...Many thanks for your letter. As you will see I am in the country where I shall be until the end of August. But if you are in N.Y. in the Fall or are coming up this way before that, I would be very glad to see and hear news...". Folding to corners and expected wear, otherwise very good.
