Description:

WYATT EARP'S 1908-1909 POCKET DIARY
(1848 - 1929) American frontier lawman and gunfighter, with two of his brothers and Doc Holliday fought the legendary gun battle with the Clanton and McLaury brothers at the OK Corral on October 26, 1881. A nice relic from the old gunslinger's later days, Earp's 1908-1909 pocket diary, 2 3/4" x 5 1/2" with maroon red leatherette covers, approx. 60pp.. The diary bears one address entry which is undoubtedly in Earp's hand, in pencil: "Ricardo Apodaca Benson Ariz Apodaca Ranch". On an identification name, a pencil entry under "Name" reads: "Wyatt Earp" but we cannot vouch for the authenticity of this entry. The diary is accompanied by a copy of a letter of provenance from renowned collector Brent Ashworth stating that Earp owned and carried this diary, and that he personally obtained it from collector John D. Gilchriese. Gilchriese's collection is well-documented - he obtained most of his Earp material from Earp's secretary John Flood. Light wear to covers, else very good condition.
