695. MARCUS J. WRIGHT (1831-1922) Confederate brigadier general wounded at Shiloh, returning to fight at Chickamauga and Atlanta. He later compiled the Official Records of the Civil War. Partly printed Confederate form No. 40 D.S. "Marcus J. Wright", 1p. 8vo., n.p., May 9, 1864, approving a request for cooking implements for "said negroes... employed at the Govt. Street pen & slaughterhouse..." Fry has approved a requisition for "1 Camp Kettle 2 Buckets 2 Mess Pans" as said negroes are "without other means to cook rations". Unusual document in good condition with some toning.
