Description:

Good pair of World War II-era posters promoting war bonds, includes: full-color poster, 17" x 22", advertising a contest held by the newspaper "Stars and Stripes", in which soldiers could submit records of war binds purchased by themselves or their families in the course of the war, with winners receiving prizes including refrigerators and cars. The poster is illustrated with an image of a young woman holding a pair of dice, next to a letter from "Margie" to her soldier sweetheart, praising his decision to place his finances in savings so that he doesn't lose them to shysters. The poster is entitled "Here's One Gamble Where You Can't Lose", with the rules of the contest appearing on the verso. A publishing line at bottom left identifies this as "Margie Poster SP No. 8", and indicates that it was produced by the Government Printing Office in 1944. Instructions for display appear at bottom right. Shows original mailing folds and a few small chips to the edges, else very good. WITH: immediately post-war propaganda poster, 18 1/2" x 26", titled "Protect Your Future" and illustrated with an image of Daniel Chester French's statue "Minute Man". At bottom appears the exhortation "Buy your Extra Savings Bonds Now!" A publishing line at the bottom edge indicates that the poster was produced by the U.S. Treasury and printed by the Government Printing Office in 1946. Shows original mailing folds with slight splits thereto, else very good. Two pieces.
