Good pair of World War II-era posters promoting war bonds, includes: Full-color poster, 22 x 28 in., illustrated with a chest-up view of a wounded American soldier donning a bloodied bandage, beneath the title: "'Doing all you can, brother?'" The exhortation "BUY WAR BONDS" appears at the bottom, above the publisher's line "U.S. Government Printing Office � 1943". Folds with some splits, one repaired on the verso, ragged top-right corner, else very good. WITH: Full-color poster, 20 x 28 in., showing an American sailor shining a searchlight while on board a naval vessel, beneath the label: "In memory: 'U.S.S Dorado'". The beam of light itself bears the red text "FIRE AWAY", while text along the bottom reads "BUY EXTRA BONDS". The bottom edge bears the publisher's line "U.S. Government Printing Office � 1944" and the designation "WFD 908-A". Folds, Tape remnants to the corners, else very good. The Gato-class submarine USS DORADO sailed from New London, Connecticut, on 6 October 1943 for the Panama Canal Zone, yet was sunk en route by either naval mines or friendly fire by an American PBM Mariner.

Shipping

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
