Description:

WORLD WAR II U.S. BOMBER'S LETTER GROUP
A group of over 50 letters and other printed materials sent by Army Air Force Corporal Richard S. Davey of the 569th Bomb Squad and 390th Bomb Group, Co. H to family members Rockaway, NJ and Maine from 1942-1945. Davey started out stateside in Colorado, then went on to be stationed in England and Scotland, and does not appear to have seen action based on the content of his notes and letters. However, they contain detailed accounts of his daily life, pastimes and things seen. Davey mentions listening to the music stars such as Gene Krupa, Glenn Miller and Paul Whiteman, describes places of interest such as Cambridge, Buckingham Palace, and areas of Scotland, gives accounts of his garden, food, and so forth. Accompanying postal covers are present, along with 19 postcards from places Davey visited, three ‘change of address' postcards from the War Department, two greeting cards, and other ephemera. Overall very good condition.
