Description:

WORLD WAR II SILK AVIATOR'S MAP
An aviator's survival map printed on white silk and measuring 19" wide x 28" tall, meant to be attached to the interior of a flyer's aviator jacket or worn as a scarf. Printed on silk so in the case that the pilot bailed out or crashed, the map wouldn't dissolve as a paper map would. This map shows Burma, with text printed at top: "REFER TO THIS MAP AS: - HIND 1055 SHEET UPPER BURMAN/INDO-CHINA", with registration number at bottom: "No. 432 X.D.D. 1942-1,000 - X '44-X'44". Glue remains to edges consistent with use, light staining, overall very good condition.
