WORLD WAR II PHOTO ALBUM OF EDOUARD IZAC
Photo album, 11.25 x 14.5 in., belonging to EDOUARD IZAC (1891-1990) Navy lieutenant commander who obtained crucial U-boat information while a prisoner a prisoner during World War I. The front cover bears the handwritten title ‘Photos of my subcommittee of Naval Affairs Committee to aid the war effort – 1944-1946'. The album contains 60 b/w photographs (some commercial) depicting: Izac with Douglas MacArthur and members of a Congressional Committee; Manila natives dancing and performing drills; Imperial Hotel and Fujiya Hotel in Japan; Naval Academy in Tsingtao, China; mealtime at the Naval Training Station in San Diego; U.S.S. Sicily; group photo of the committee landing in Tientsin (Tianjin); the viewing of human remains in an incinerator at an unnamed concentration camp in Germany; Izac with binoculars at the ready, waiting for the explosion from the nuclear bomb experiment at Bikini Atoll; group photo with Admiral Chester Nimitz; and more. Many of the photos are accompanied by handwritten notes from Izac. Marginal tears throughout, else very good. Izac was a Medal of Honor recipient. From 1937 to 1947, he served five terms as a Representative from California.

Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
