WORLD WAR II COMMEMORATIVE MEDALLION AND SHIELD
Medallion given to the members of the U.S. Army by the city of Maastricht to commemorate the city as being the first to be liberated during that war. The medallion is cast in iron, 4.75 in. dia. On the obverse there is a cityscape and reads (in Dutch): ‘MAASTRICHT EERST BEVIJDE STAD 13.9.1944' (‘MAASTRICHT FIRST LIBERATED CITY 13.9.1944'). On the reverse is a sticker which states ‘To the United States Army. With grateful thanks from MAASTRICHT, The first liberated town in Holland'. Fine. Included also is a shield made to commemorate Sergent LEO RUTKA (1912-1996), who fought in World War II from 1942-1945, 7.75 x 6.75 in. He attained a Purple Heart and a Silver Star Medal for his actions in the Netherlands. Fine. Two pieces.

International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
